What is the energy efficiency observatory?
THE MARKET FOR ENERGY SERVICES COMPANIES
The objective of the “ANESE Energy Efficiency Observatory” is to carry out a rigorous diagnosis of the market for Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) in Spain. This document has been prepared by the National Association of Energy Services Companies (ANESE).
It is a report whose purpose is to consolidate itself as a document for consultation and analysis of the evolution of the market for Energy Service Companies over the years, in this edition more specifically between 2015 and 2022. Since 2016, ANESE has been carrying out this study of the sector, having published three editions previously, one in 2016, another in 2018 and the last one in 2021.
This report is called the “Energy Efficiency Observatory” because it would make no sense to talk about ESCOs without talking about the concept that is their pillar and principle: energy efficiency. More and more companies are basing their activity and business on energy efficiency, as is the case of ESCOs, and their projects are based on efficient and energy-saving installations.
ANESE argues that energy efficiency and ESCOs should go hand in hand. Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important thanks to the activity of ESCOs, and ESCOs exist because their objective is energy efficiency.
With this document, ANESE aims to inform and help to understand the ESCO market as a whole. For this reason, it continues to support this report that analyses the impact of energy efficiency on the Spanish energy sector.
In addition, it also shows the current state of energy efficiency at national and global level and discusses the objectives set by the European Green Deal and the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), with the aim of getting to know the role played by ESCOs in the energy market and, more specifically, their contribution to energy efficiency.
