What is the energy efficiency observatory?
THE MARKET FOR ENERGY SERVICES COMPANIES
The “Energy Efficiency Observatory” of ANESE (National Association of Energy Services Companies) aims to carry out a rigorous diagnosis of the market of Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) and to be a reference for consultation and analysis of the evolution of this market between 2015 and 2020.
This report has been prepared by ANESE. Since 2016, the Association has been carrying out this study of the sector, having previously published two editions, one in 2016 and the other in 2018.
It is called the “Energy Efficiency Observatory” because it would make no sense to talk about ESCOs without talking about the concept that is its pillar and principle: energy efficiency. There are more and more companies that base their activity and business on energy efficiency, as is the case with ESCOs, whose projects are based on efficient and energy-saving facilities.
ANESE defends that energy efficiency and ESCO should go hand in hand. Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important thanks to the activity of ESCOs, and these exist because their objective is energy efficiency.
With this report, ANESE aims to inform and help to understand the ESCo market as a whole. For this reason, ANESE continues suporting this report that analyses the impact of energy efficiency on the Spanish energy sector. It also presents essential data on energy supply and demand in Spain, shows the current state of energy efficiency at national and global level and discusses the objectives set by the European Green Pact and the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), with the aim of getting to know the role played by the ESCOs in the energy market and, more specifically, their contribution to energy efficiency.
A new feature of this edition is an analysis of the Portuguese energy efficiency market and a comparison between both markets, which we are sure will be of great interest, as it provides valuable data.
